Mobile World Congress: NXP Packs A Punch With Ultra-Small, Single-chip HSPA Multimedia Solution

Delivers high-performance HSPA and EDGE, rich media playback, extended play time. NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, today announced a feature-packed, ultra-small, single-core, dual-mode Nexperia Cellular Multimedia Baseband PNX6712 for HSPA and EDGE. Based on 65-nm process technology, it offers manufacturers advanced on-chip multimedia features, such as H.264 decoding on QVGA at 30 frames per second (fps). The PNX6712 forms the engine of NXP’s Nexperia Cellular System Solution 6712 - a powerful HSDPA/HSUPA/EDGE platform, enabling sub-$30 electronic bill-of-materials (eBoM).
